Welcome 2008 - From India

What a contrast - flying out of JFK with snow flurries all around and arriving in Chennai in the midst of a monsoon rain. Monsoons in India are a vital part of living, a necessity that might inconvenience you and frustrate you but yet so welcome as it is a promise of new life and good things to come. A failed monsoon means drought and lesser crops and even famine and death. A good monsoon spells green paddy (rice) fields and brimming water reservoirs. The day we arrived - Jan. 4 - was wet, and we were greeted by flooded streets and a terribly leaking bedroom (yes our bedroom leaks like a sieve and the floor accumulates water and the walls are damp and chill) yet it was still a time to thank the God of all Creation for the promise of a bountiful year ahead.

That's the way it is even with our ministry. We were greeted by good news from the TV producers. A letter informed us that our TV Broadcast, The Divine Connection, which is a bi-lingual (English and Tamil) presentation is now being aired on yet another channel and translated into yet another language. We are now on Sunday nights on a channel called SUBHAVAARTHA (try pronouncing that !) and this time it is translated into the Telegu language. Praise God! Proclamation of His Word continues. Responses keep coming in. Its part of what God wants us to do.

Oh, incidentally, this afternoon we had REAL Chai in my office - tea with sugar and cream in delicate china cups.

Next time then.

Leonard
