Cricket Mania

India is such a diverse country, but there is one thing that unifies us. Cricket!!!

It is Cricket mania here in India. Professional Cricket has taken over the old classical game of Cricket. Major cities now have their home teams - ours being the CHENNAI SUPER KINGS . Yes, we have a logo and everything.

The tournament that ended this week created a frenzy comparable to the World Series or the NBA Playoffs with one exception - here about a billion people got involved, with the teams representing eight of India's major cities - including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. There were gaudy uniforms, cheerleaders (from the US), pre-game shows and all kinds of hoopla. The crowds loved it. Unfortunately, Chennai lost in the finals on Sunday. It was a great final with the outcome decided on the last ball of the match. Well, there is always next season.

Crowds are India's trademark. And 'crowds' of people here need Jesus. Television reaches crowds. Both channels we broadcast on reach millions of potential viewers and most of them are non-Christians. Pray for us as we reach out to the 'crowds'.

On a different note, Margaret at our Home for the Aged celebrated her 95th birthday last week. What a blessed age. She desires to reach 100 years. The Lord knows about that, we told her.
