I'm sure many of you are aware that over the last two weeks India has been victim to terrorist attacks. The terrorist attack closest to us was in Bangalore, India's most hi-tech city. Bangalore is home to the R&D centers of major computer software manufacturers from all over the world. The bombs were planted in strategic areas, particularly where IT centers are located.
The next day Ahmedabad, located in the highly industrialized state of Gujarat, rocked to the blasts of numerous bombs killing several people and injuring scores of others. This was followed by terrorist attacks in Surat, a city near Ahmedabad and noted for its processing of diamonds.
Over twenty bombs were found and defused.
Terrorism has come to India's urban centers and the intent is to cause the maximum amount of carnage. In our own city of Chennai, with a population of over 7 million, a plot to bomb a major overpass in the city was discovered and foiled. I drive on that overpass constantly especially when I go to the TV recording studio.
Terrorism is an evil act by evil men in an evil society. So, what do we do when the reality of terrorism hits close to home? We pray for safety and security. We pray for those misled and misguided who carry out such attacks. We carry on doing what the Lord requires of us, proclaiming Him as Lord and promoting His Kingdom.
The Eternal God is our refuge and underneath are His everlasting arms. Deut. 33: 27
